Hiking distance: 16 km
The Shivpuri trekking route starts in Kathmandu at Budhanilkhanta and leads to the entrance of the
park, Panimuhan, located two kilometers away. To reach the Shivpuri peak, hikers can take a steep
path through the western forest and return via Bagdwar and Nagi Gumba. The route is surrounded by
dense forests on either side and features a steep hill with stones in the center. The Shivpuri Hill is a
beautiful destination, offering a panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley and the mountains to the
north. It is also a great place to study biodiversity. The Bagmati, Bishnumati, and other rivers provide
water for Kathmandu from this area.
Before going on a hike, it's important to do some research and gather information about the route, the local culture and way of life, the weather, and the destination. It's also a good idea to bring along some essential materials, such as walking sticks, sunglasses, a hat or cap, and sun protection cream. Wearing comfortable shoes and clothing is also important for a successful hike. If you are hiking during the rainy season, be sure to bring a raincoat and umbrella. Since many hiking routes pass through forests, it's also a good idea to bring light snacks, fruit, and a first aid kit.
