The Annapurna Siklis Trek is also one of the famous trekking trails of Annapurna Region, which provides you with spectacular view of mountains along with a chance to explore the cultural life of village people. The Annapurna Siklis Trek is a short trek with easy walk in the low altitudes of the Annapurna Region. It is a less crowded trail among the other route in Annapurna region, so this trek is suitable for people who love being around mountains with less number of trekkers along the way.
Our Annapurna Siklis Trekking starts from Bijayapur Khola which is in a short drive distance from Pokhara. From Bijayapur Khola we ascend through a trail that leads us towards Kalikasthan (1,370 m) by gently climbing along a ridge top through several small villages inhabited by Brahmin and Chhetri. The campsite is located near Kalikasthan which offers breathtaking 360-degree view of the entire Pokhara city and the surrounding mountains that lie above the great Himalayan skyline of Nepal. Furthermore, if you try hard, you can even spot the mesmerizing Begnas Taal from there. Next, we begin heading down towards Lamakhet from Kalikasthan and in doing so, we will need to cross some tantalizing rivers called Nawaldanda & Bhaise.
Now we have to leave Lamakhet and make our trail towards another beautiful destination called Siklis (1,980 m). Along the way, we can get some very overwhelming views of Mt. Machapuchare which is also called Mt. Fishtail. Ascending gently and later descending steeply we shall arrive at Parju village and then reach Siklis village after a last-minute uphill ascend. The Siklis village is the oldest and largest Gurung village in this region. For your information, Siklis village is one of oldest and historical villages of Gurung communities who are native to this part of Nepal. Continuing on, we shall now make our way from Siklis to Neuli Kharka also known as Forest camp (2,200 m) which goes through a thick rhododendron and deciduous oak forest. Around spring season, the blooms of rhododendron in the sunlight provides a spectacular and picturesque view. Afterwards we make our journey through the steep of thick rhododendron forest of Forest camp to Ghale Gaon (2,000m); Ghale Gaon is a small village mainly inhabited my Magar and Gurung. We can stay in Ghale Gaon for a brief time and familiarize ourselves with their custom and tradition. As we get to the end our trek we descend down from Ghale Gaon and head to Pokhara from where we return back to Kathmandu.
This Annapurna Siklis Trek is a very easy paced trek which only lasts 10 days. So, it doesn’t need too much physical fitness like in other popular trekking routes. For this trek we consider autumn (September – November) and spring (March – May) as the best seasons for trekking in this region.
