The Everest Region which is also known as “The Khumbu Region” of Nepal is prominently re-known as one of the best destined places for trekking around the world. As the region is so popular among trekkers, it has many different trekking routes that go all over the region. Among them “The Sherpa Village Trek” is a unique trekking that passes through high mountain villages inhabited by the Sherpa people, a mountain people of Tibetan heritage who migrated south over the Himalayan chain more than 500 years ago, settling into the high valleys of the Nepal Himalaya.
We start our Sherpa Villages Trek as we take a breathtaking flight over scenic-mountain passes, to Lukla, a small village at the mouth of the upper Khumbu Valley. During our initial days of our Sherpa Village Trek, we shall cross a number of suspension bridges and even enter into the Sagarmatha National Park for some of the first glimpses of Mt. Everest (word’s highest mountain) which is also known as Chomolungma (Goddess Mother of the world) in Tibetan language. After a few days of trekking towards the north, we arrive at popular Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar (3,440m), the trading place for local traders and a perfect place where we get the chance to know much more about Sherpa community and their lifestyle. After spending two nights for acclimatizing at this relatively high elevation we now head towards Tengboche (3867m). We would visit the largest Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu, the Tengboche Monastery and return to Lukla. From this small settlement we trek to a village on the old Tibetan salt route, Thame. Thame monastery would be visited and the next day we’ll travel to Monjo from where we start the descent to Lukla. And from Lukla we end our trek by taking a flight back to Kathmandu.
The Sherpa Villages Trek is a short and reasonably easy paced trekking suitable for most of the trekkers who are looking forward to get the best views of world’s highest Mountain while exploring into Sherpa culture and tradition. Sherpa Villages Trek is best experienced during the spring months of March, April, May and autumn months of September, October and November. Come and join the Incredible Mountains team to be part of this awe-inspiring trek.
