Phulchoki
Hiking distance : 18 km
Phulchoki, located in Lalitpur, is the tallest mountain in the Kathmandu Valley. The hike to the summit begins at Godavari and there are two paths to choose from: a steep forest road from Naudhara or a gravel motor road from Kund. Hikers should return the same way they came. From the top of Phulchoki, there are breathtaking views of the valley and dozens of other mountains. The sunrise and sunset also offer beautiful colors, and the mountain sometimes experiences snowfall in January and February.
Before going on a hike, it's important to do some research and gather information about the route, the local culture and way of life, the weather, and the destination. It's also a good idea to bring along some essential materials, such as walking sticks, sunglasses, a hat or cap, and sun protection cream. Wearing comfortable shoes and clothing is also important for a successful hike. If you are hiking during the rainy season, be sure to bring a raincoat and umbrella. Since many hiking routes pass through forests, it's also a good idea to bring light snacks, fruit, and a first aid kit.
