Chandragiri is another popular hiking destination in the Kathmandu Valley. It is home to the Bhaleshwar Mahadev Temple, located at an altitude of 2,500 meters. There are several routes that can be taken to reach Chandragiri, including a 12-kilometer hike from Kirtipur Machhegaon through Chapdanda. There is also a road that leads to Chandragiri from Thankot, which is about 6 kilometers one way. From Chandragiri, hikers can enjoy views of the Kathmandu Valley and various snow-capped mountain ranges. This route passes through a dense forest with butane, and hikers may encounter wild animals such as leopards.
Before going on a hike, it's important to do some research and gather information about the route, the local culture and way of life, the weather, and the destination. It's also a good idea to bring along some essential materials, such as walking sticks, sunglasses, a hat or cap, and sun protection cream. Wearing comfortable shoes and clothing is also important for a successful hike. If you are hiking during the rainy season, be sure to bring a raincoat and umbrella. Since many hiking routes pass through forests, it's also a good idea to bring light snacks, fruit, and a first aid kit.
