In Tengboche monastery the Mani Rimdu is performed on the 9th month of the Tibetan lunar calendar. In this festival the monks of Everest region perform various rituals with singing and dancing. The last three days are public and include the Lama’s blessing ceremony, masked dancers and the elaborate finale and bonfire on the final day.  The atmosphere of this occasion is quite magical with people coming together from many different villages in the Khumbu (Everest) area. On the way one can also encounter various kinds of wildlife such as rare wild animals and birds like red panda, snow leopard, wild boar, etc. along with some varieties of flowers such as the majestic Rhododendron. But at the end of the day you just want to enjoy and get lost in the festive environment at Tengboche monastery.
