Everest High Pass Trek

Everest High Pass trek in Khumbu Region is one of the most famous adventurous trekking trails for adventure travelers who are seeking to trek in Khumbu region. The prominent magnetisms of this area are the majestic mountains, high mountain villages, isolated monasteries, and local Sherpa people. It follows the route via high pass of Cho La at 5,330 meters into the base camp of Mt. Everest. A unique trek that goes through Lukla, Namche Bazaar and all the way to Gokyo (5357m), Cho La Pass, Kalapathar (5545m), Everest Base Camp and Island Peak (6189m).

The Everest High Pass trek starts with an exciting flight to the mountain airstrip at Lukla; from here we follow in the footsteps of famous mountaineers for the walk into Everest Base Camp. During the trekking period we will explore the heart of the Sherpa homeland, visiting Namche Bazaar (3440m) and Khumjung village before ascending the stunning Gokyo Valley. From the Cho La Pass we ascend Gokyo Ri, one of the finest vantage points for Mount Everest (8848m), Makalu (8485m) and Lhotse (8516m). Crossing into the Khumbu Valley by way of the high and challenging Chola Pass, we then climb to the trekkers’ summit of Kalapatthar, which affords more stunning views of Everest. This is a more challenging alternative to the traditional trek to Everest Base Camp with an ascent of Kalapathar and Gokyo Ri as well as crossing the Himalayan mountain pass of Cho La. Then it’s onto the Everest base camp, scene of triumph and tragedy, where close-up views of the Khumbu Glacier can be witnessed. After Base Camp we walk out over the Khongma La pass to Island Peak. Then we retrace the trail back as we walk down to Namche Bazaar and Lukla through Chukhung and Tengboche.

During this trek most of the walking is done above 3600m. Therefore this trek is not for the novice but will appeal to those who have previous experience in such high altitudes. This trek will mainly suit trekkers who have experienced Nepal’s trekking routes before and also for the first time trekkers who are willing to test themselves in this most beautiful alpine environment. Come to the Khumbu with Incredible Mountains and give yourself a adventure of a lifetime!
